This grande dame is the largest to date of Bethan’s Criss Cross family developed with Pyrex specialist, Pietro Viero.
Commissioned to crown the fragrance floor of MECCA’s new Flagship store in Melbourne. The dynamic floating hexagon chandelier, aims to impress visitors spanning a 2m diameter and consisting of 5 layers, 21 cores and 42 individual hand blown flowers.
Referencing the light and beautiful language that Bethan saw in the Kite Museum in Japan, alongside layered temple forms, these long, clear Pyrex pipes are suspended by wire cables and brass bracing to create an open column. The “bloom” of hand-blown, colored Pyrex echoes the graphic eye from Koinobori streamers.
