Criss Cross, Kite Chandelier

Kite is a continuation of Bethan’s Criss Cross language developed with specialist Pyrex artisan, Pietro Viero.  The influence for the dynamic floating hexagon chandelier, the overall shape and “bloom” form, has travailed from Mexico to Asia.

Referencing the light and beautiful language that Bethan saw in the Kite Museum, Japan, alongside layered temple forms, these long, clear pipes of Pyrex are suspended by wire cables and brass bracing to create an open column. The “bloom” of hand-blown, coloured Pyrex echoes the graphic eye from Koinobori streamers.
